Exam vouchers
There are two levels of certification for PRINCE2. Candidates can prepare for each of those exams with one of these options:
- Taking a classroom course, either in-person or online, with an accredited trainer. This is the most expensive option, but usually gives a good chance of passing the exam.
- Taking a self-paced eLearning course developed by an accredited trainer. This is much more affordable than the previous option and the success rate can be higher as well.
- Independently self study the topic and then take the exam. This is the most affordable option, but the risk of failing the exam and having to buy another expensive exam voucher is higher.
This page is about the third option, when the candidate is done with studies and has to buy an exam voucher only, without a course.
Exam cost
Exams are sold via Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs). They pay a fixed amount to PeopleCert, which may include discounts based on how many vouchers they buy or whether or not they buy them in bulk. Then they add their admin cost and a profit margin and offer it to candidates.
The exam cost is about €500-€600 + VAT for both levels. If you like, you can buy your vouchers from our company, Management Plaza:
You also have the option to buy the exam directly from PeopleCert, but that usually costs a little more and doesn’t offer you the support services you’d get from a good ATO.
The second attempt
Normally, if you fail the exam, you’ll need to pay the full fee again for a retake. However, some ATOs (such as Management Plaza) offer a pass guarantee with their classroom or eLearning packages — meaning they will cover the cost of a second attempt if you don’t pass the first time.
When buying an exam only, you can pay an additional fee to buy it with PeopleCert’s Take² option, which offers you a second attempt if you fail the first one. The option costs about €100 extra.
