What is NUPP

NUPP is a collection of nearly universal principles of projects: suitable and should be followed in projects, regardless of the methodologies to maximize our success. : Click here for the NUPP.guide

Each resource and method for running projects pays attention to some of these NUPs (nearly universal principles), however:

  • it’s usually not all of them, and it would be helpful for the practitioners to consider all NUPs instead of a subset, and
  • the underlying principles are usually not clear enough in resources, and most practitioners are so engaged in practical details that forget about principles and do things that are not compatible with them.

NUPP is compatible with all major methods, systems, resources, and frameworks such as PRINCE2, PMBOK Guide, P3.express, DSDM, XP, and Scrum. NUPs are:

  • NUP1: prefer results and the truth to affiliations
  • NUP2: preserve and optimize energy and resources
  • NUP3: always be proactive
  • NUP4: remember that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link
  • NUP5: don’t do anything without a clear purpose
  • NUP6: use repeatable elements
